Mindful Somatic Therapy
Mindful Somatic therapy is all about connecting with your body and emotions as a way to better understand and meet your needs. This form of therapy benefits clients who are feeling disconnected from themselves. There are many reasons why an individual may be disconnected from their body and/or emotions. Some reasons include trauma, anxiety, medical experiences, depression, and any other experience where being in your body and/or having emotions was or felt dangerous. This disconnection can impact the way you see yourself, others, and the world. These beliefs can go on to impact the way you experience life, for example if you believe you are alone it may lead to further isolation from others. Part of therapy will focus on identifying these beliefs. Prior to engaging in activities designed to help increase self connection, it is important to identify and add to your coping skills. It is important that you feel properly equipped before you begin engaging in exercises and activities designed to help you connect with yourself physically and emotionally.
